Books And Writing

I meant to do a load of C3 writing yesterday, but I just couldn’t get in the mood. I was in a reading mode.

Sat down last night to read a bit of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time…couple of hours later, I’d finished the book. It was pretty class, but the worst of the three I’ve read in the last few weeks. Started on another book now, Love In A Blue Time, the collection of short stories by that Asian guy Hanif Kureishi. It’s quite good so far, 10 pages in.

Otherwise, as at least Sy knows, the work on the story/novel has begun. Syed thought it was good so far unless he was bullshitting me. Send it you if you want Turon? Then I’m ‘going dark’ with info. on it for a bit, and you can see more once I’ve done a good amount more. Unless I think of something and get really excited, or I’m not sure if I’m doing well.

I’m out tonight and tomorrow night (cinema and possibly 5th Ave with uni people tonight, Witchwood -ugh -for Claire’s birthday tomorrow), so you might not hear from me properly for a couple of days. Not seeing Vikki this weekend though (she has a new job and has to work on Saturday for this week only), so I’ll probably be online all Saturday.

Podcast comments? Throw them up!

  1. The Curious Incident…is a good book. Very easy to get into and I got it done in 2 days too. I’ve heard good things about that Hanif Kureishi. I started on the Clive James’ autobiography, it’s class so far. funny as hell. he quotes someone then calls them a prick.

the oprning to your novel IS good :P it’s exactly the sort of book I’d love. I reckon you’re writing it because of High Fidelity AND My Legendary Girlfriend which i got for your bithday…soo..if you become an author…you’re welcome ;)

What you watching at the piics? Wish i could go to 5th Ave one night, sounds like the sort of palce i’d like…is it a club? or a bar type thing? not sure about club, but bar would be okee. But it won’t beat my boyhood dream of going into Night & Day.

Homer: Marge, you’re standing in the way of my boyhood dream of managing a beautiful country singer!

Marge: Your boyhood dream is to eat the world’s biggest hoagie! And you did it at the county fair last year, remember!?

Where does Vikki work now? I’m applying for a few jobs. Well…one…I WAS going to apply to two. There’s adverts for the Bank of New York opening in Manchester with 350 jobs being created. can’t find the site for it, but i’ll get it off the billbaord at piccadilly station, but i dont’ really wanna work in a bank (it means wearing a suiit!) so there’s a new IKEA opening in Ashton, so will be applying there and HOPEFULLY i’ll get one there. IKEA doesn’t open till October but they’re hiring through April…which is a bit early, maybe for stocking and shit? we’ll see.

oh yeah…podcast was good, bit rushed..but i told you my opinion on the online marathon we had last night.

  2. Yeah, vastly inspired by My Legendary Girlfriend and High Fidelity, and elements of other books and films I see from now until it’s finished will probably inspire me as well. Cheers. ;-)

Vikki’s working in admin at a flower place, sorts out the orders for places like M&S. She’s on about possibly training to be a florist as a ‘back up skill’…do your new fucking degree! Haha, if she did both that’d be class.

5th Ave is…bar and club I suppose. Upstairs is mainly all seating area, downstairs is mainly dance floor. It’s indie night tonight as well. :-D

Ooh! The great CD rippage is complete!
