Punctuation Question

Mason, maybe you can answer this one. When you have a sentence that is in parenthesis, does the full stop go outside the closing bracket, or before it?

Lost - Lockdown

I’ve not seen this yet, not had the time to download and watch it, however there is buzz on Newsvine, apparently people are saying it’s one of the best episodes. it is coming to the end sweeps I guess, so there needs to be. I’ll probably watch it by the end of Sunday, will be working tomorrow. Once you watch it Mase, let me know if it lives up to the hype without giving away anything. Cheers.

Oh and Sy, JACK BAUER IS DEAD ;)

24 - why season 5 is the best

the thing with 24 is that after the first few episodes it normally starts to wane, then you get the mid season episode which is normally amazing, then it wanes until the last 2. this season you can throw that out of the window. i’m telling you the episodes just get better and better. we are on hour 15 now and fuck that was amazing, mind-blowing. i’m a hard person to impress and i was on the edge of my seat. i’d say in this season there are 8 outstanding episodes, with the rest really good. that’s over half, and by outstanding i mean outstanding. syed you are going to love this, there are no fillers. no filler at all.

GDC

That was a mint time. Sat in a staff chat with John, Barry, JB and James and just talked about what was going on.

- SEGA Mega Drive and Hudson/NEC TurboGrafX consoles are on the Virtual Console of Revolution.
- Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass was announced for DS.

Those two pieces of news alone sustained us, which I find quite incredible to be honest. From a company and a console with so much mystery currently, to release just two pieces of information and satiate people is fantastic. The SEGA news got leaked a few minutes before it got announced (I believe we were one of the first places who caught onto it) and there was practically a verbal orgasm from all of us except James, who was typing up news, bless his cotton socks. When Zelda DS got announced as cel-shaded, the first thing I said was ‘holy…shit’ and everybody else followed the sentiments.

E3 cannot come quick enough at all. Vikki’s birthday is on 14th May…

Vikki: You’re more excited for that than my birthday!
Mike: …It’ll be a nice birthday present!
Vikki: That’s what you said last time!

Don’t worry. I’ll get her something nice. :-)

We <3 The Guardian

Came across an article titled “Web designers still failing disabled people” in this week’s Technology Guardian. It tells us about a law that just has been passed called PAS 78 and also that:

Making websites accessible is a legal requirement under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), and service providers must ensure that disabled people can use their sites. This position was clarified by the DRC in 2002.

It also states how 80% of websites surveyed failed to meet the requirements, and also mentions how 2 companies have been prosecuted. Interesting read if your up for it. (link up at the top) :)

Books And Writing

I meant to do a load of C3 writing yesterday, but I just couldn’t get in the mood. I was in a reading mode.

Sat down last night to read a bit of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time…couple of hours later, I’d finished the book. It was pretty class, but the worst of the three I’ve read in the last few weeks. Started on another book now, Love In A Blue Time, the collection of short stories by that Asian guy Hanif Kureishi. It’s quite good so far, 10 pages in.

Otherwise, as at least Sy knows, the work on the story/novel has begun. Syed thought it was good so far unless he was bullshitting me. Send it you if you want Turon? Then I’m ‘going dark’ with info. on it for a bit, and you can see more once I’ve done a good amount more. Unless I think of something and get really excited, or I’m not sure if I’m doing well.

I’m out tonight and tomorrow night (cinema and possibly 5th Ave with uni people tonight, Witchwood -ugh -for Claire’s birthday tomorrow), so you might not hear from me properly for a couple of days. Not seeing Vikki this weekend though (she has a new job and has to work on Saturday for this week only), so I’ll probably be online all Saturday.

Podcast comments? Throw them up!

Perfume to be made in a film

The book that i fucking love…Perfume by Patrick Suskind is being made into a movie. However, i don’t think i’ll be watching it. The books is very dark and really sick in parts. The movie will probably be at those standards, too. I think it’s in german, too…so wether or not it makes it into mainstream cinema is another thing. But it’s interesting to see that a book from 1985 being made into a film. Just hope it increases the awareness of the book because it is a hidden classic. :)
