The Cubed3 Saga Continues

JAMES TEMPERTON IS BACK, BABY.

Turns out he was with his girlfriend away for a few days, and then at his dad’s. Would’ve liked a bit of warning, but nevermind.

The feature is on. Sample issue to be written up and scrutinised. I’m going to do it in the next few days, I have to do another ‘Kirby review’ - that is, get it perfect right away and get the job, just like I did with Kirby: Canvas Curse review.

Update: Since none of you seem to have read this so far, give me a hand. What do you think of when you hear the words ‘indie’ or ‘independent’? No, not music thoughts, please. Images in your head, etc. . I want to make a logo and have it all made up and coded for my preview version rather than just shoving it into writing alone.

Update 2: Le banner.

  3. nice one on the feature :)

when i think indie in graphic form i think of retro style stuff, pixel art and simple/clean stuff.

    some exampleeeeees:

4cr - i reckon most of it is indie. because of the hand-drawn/pixel graphics.

K10k - look at the style it uses - mainly just dots for background, small logos and pixel fonts.

Huddle Together - i like this logo design (bottom right) because it’s really simple and clean. it just does its job. sometimes small things liek that that take you about 2 minutes to put up can have a great effect.

i recommend for you logo you do a text based logo. Got links to loads of font sites if you want any. then just play around with them. what will your logo say? “Indie Gaming” mess around with the text. make one bold make the other normal. change sizes, change the color. make the word “indie” a dark colour and then make the word “gaming” a lighter complemantary colour. Put words together that should have spaces inbetween them then make them different by using the suggested methods above. Maybe you could do a little pixel graphic next to the wordings?

main thing to remember is ‘indie’ is about substance, obviously people relate indie to having less money and not caring about image. it’s about showing people it and not fluffing it up or hiding it behind some screen.

Keep the fluff to a low. It’s all about rock and roll.

  4. Wow. You guys really had different ideas to me. I’ll update with my projected logo (it’s a rough mock-up). I’m taking into consideration your stuff though.

  7. i dont’ know what i would have done with it. but i’m sure it’ll be along the lines of what i have mentioned before. but that’s just me. everyone has their own different style.

the main thing is to get the message across, and it does!
